Maersk Line would like to remind you that effective July 1, 2012, a new tax, Port License Fee, is being imposed on the transportation community by the Victorian Government in Melbourne, Australia. The cost will be charged per container for all cargo moving to and from Melbourne. Please note that this fee will be billed by the Port of Melbourne to all shipping lines. We will collect this fee from our customers and pass it along to the government.
In order to maintain transparency, Maersk Line will implement an Export Port Additional (PAE) (exports from Melbourne) and Import Port Additional (PAI) (imports to Melbourne) surcharge for all cargo moving to and from Melbourne to cover the Port License Fee collection. Please note that our previous advisory mentioned PLF as the charge code. This will not be used.
PAE / PAI surcharge rates are as follow:
- AUD 32 per 20′ container
- AUD 64 per 40′ container
