Dear Valued Customer,

Please be advised that as a result of an unseasonably mild winter and rainfall at near record lows over the past two months current water levels on the St. Lawrence River are at unusually low levels. As a result of this, cargo operations at the Port or Montréal are being impacted. The latest projections suggest that these conditions will not improve in the coming weeks, with some suggesting it will take months before water levels return to a normal level.

Therefore, we will implement an Emergency Low Water Surcharge for all cargo loading/discharging at the Port of Montreal with an effective date of August 1, 2012 (August 18, 2012 for FMC and other regulated trades). Details of the Emergency Low Water Surcharge are as follows:

  • USD 125 per 20′ container
  • USD 250 per 40′ container
